In a nutshell, Smith Brothers is a renowned high voltage power engineering contractor that has worked on hundreds of projects, large and small, throughout the UK and overseas.
But how exactly have we progressed from a small, family-run business based in Elland, West Yorkshire, to a £27m turnover company, trusted by some of the country’s most well-known brands?
Our team is made up of highly-trained electrical, jointers, wiremen and fitters, not to mention back-office staff, estimators and project coordinators. Together, we ensure the safe and professional execution of every job. This means that, whether we’re working on a high or low voltage distribution system, a simple assignment or a complex turnkey project, we have varied and in-depth expertise at our fingertips.
In fact this has underpinned our success to date. Multi-disciplined in-house experience makes us responsive, cost-effective and fiercely protective of quality. We respond exactly when customers need us, to ensure minimal disruption and the swift completion of works. As a result, we see a significant amount of repeat business, a healthy flow of new enquiries, and have now connected in excess of 1 Gigawatt of power in the UK alone.
But that’s not all. In order to cement our position as one of the country’s leading high voltage electrical contractors, we’ve worked hard to uphold a series of industry standards. We have an enviable health and safety record thanks to robust training for all personnel and the achievement of numerous independent accreditations. We’re also ISO9001 certified, but in truth this acts only as a minimum benchmark, with many of our practices exceeding relevant British Standards and codes of practice.
In terms of what’s next for our team of high voltage electrical contracting specialists, the future is bright. Thanks to loyal staff who maintain their continued development, the recruitment of new talent into the company, and ongoing enquiries from clients new and old, we look sure to sustain our progressive growth trend. But this further expansion will not be to the detriment of customer service, safety, project standards, the environment, or our cost-effectiveness.
You can often learn more about a company by looking at their client base. So who are Smith Brothers’ customers?
We’ve worked with a vast range of organisations ranging from major nationwide utilities providers and blue chip brands, to local SMEs and construction partners. These clients operate in varied sectors including commercial and industrial, renewables and water treatment, to name just a few.
Whilst every project is different, the one similarity between every client is that they have chosen us for our in-house expertise. This multi-disciplined engineering skill-set translates into an ability to complete jobs safely, on time and to budget, however complex.
