We’re supporting Overgate Hospice
When we’re not overseeing high voltage electrical engineering works, the Smith Brothers Contracting team loves nothing more than a group night out – particularly when it involves raising money for a good cause.
A dozen of our finest power people headed to The Venue in Barkisland for Overgate Hospice’s Sporting Dinner on Friday 10 January, to raise money for a very worthy cause. While the final total is still being totted up, initial figures show the night raised in excess of £40,000!
As one of the night’s sponsors, we were entertained by comedian Jed Stone and guest speaker Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, all while perched on some of the best seats in the house! As you can imagine, a delicious dinner, bucket of beers and plenty of Port went down a treat with colleagues!
Overgate Hospice, an independent charity based in Elland, which has been at the heart of the Calderdale community for over 35 years and helps people with life-limiting illnesses.
John Smith, founder of Smith Brothers said: “Overgate Hospice is local to Smith Brothers, and relies heavily on funding from the local community to ensure their care is available for future generations. The work they do is invaluable for both patients and their families, so I am delighted that we have been able to contribute to this latest round of fundraising.”
Striving to improve the quality of life for patients and help them to live life to the full – right to the very end – the organisation offers specialist palliative care, comfort and support, completely free of charge, to patients and their families.
