Festive fundraising with Overgate Hospice
It doesn’t take much to get the team at Smith Brothers HQ in the festive spirit, but this year we’re even more enthusiastic about the season ahead. Not because 2020 has been a year to forget – but because we’re doing ‘our bit’ to help a very worthy cause.
As long-term supporters of Overgate Hospice, and fresh from sponsorship of the charity’s golf day earlier this year, we’re once again powering up the fundraising engine – both on site and in our UK and Ireland offices – to drum up some much-needed donations.
The charity is organising its annual Xmas raffle and has sent books of tickets to all their supporters – including us. With £1,000 (plus food and alcohol hampers) up for grabs – and the winner set to be drawn (at random) on the 17 December – you’d be mad to miss it!
Smith Brothers colleagues, clients, or friends can get involved by contacting our very own Molly Horrocks between 2-16 December. You don’t have to work for us to bag the swag, as the charity is running the competition online, too.
Not only that, but our famous Christmas jumper competition will be making its annual appearance on 18 December. It’s £1 to join in the fun – all proceeds will go to Overgate – and the winner will get a very special, top-secret prize.
With plenty of other activities taking place throughout the month, there will hardly be any time for Christmas shopping. That’s why we’ve also got some fantastic Overgate-themed stocking fillers on sale in our Elland office, including:
• Badges / pins: £1.00 • 2021 diaries: £2.00 • 2021 calendars: £3.50 • Packs of Christmas cards : £3.50
Costing £4.6m per year to run – the equivalent of £11,600 per day – Overgate Hospice has been supporting patients within Calderdale for over 35 years. However, the organisation suffered a significant loss of income this year, due to a disrupted calendar of events following the pandemic.
Striving to improve the quality of life for patients, Overgate Hospice offers specialist palliative care, comfort, and support, completely free of charge, to patients and their families.
