Smith Brothers unveils Christmas design challenge for kids
This year has been a real challenge for everyone, but we thought we could try and have a little bit of fun as we enter the last few weeks of 2020 by enlisting the help of the young people within the Smith Brothers family – to create our newest colleague!
As if we don’t keep our SHEQ manager, Darrel Johnson, busy enough, he also helps with Maltby Main FC – a semi-professional football team based on the outskirts of Rotherham – in his spare time. Stick with us here….
The squad recently ‘scored’ a £4,000 grant from the Football Foundation to purchase Covid-19-related compliance equipment. The funding enabled the club to ‘kit out’ its training facilities with signage, bins, and a QR code reader – as well as creating a brand ‘Bee Safe’ mascot.
So, we thought we would put Darrell’s creative credentials to the test here at Smith Brothers HQ!
With that in mind, Darrell is spearheading a competition for colleagues (and their younger counterparts) to create our very own Smith Brothers Contracting SHEQ ‘character’ – which will be used as part of all relevant briefs, posters, and internal communications in 2021.
Those up for the challenge are tasked with coming up with a name, avatar, and personality for our virtual colleague, with the winning talisman officially becoming a part of the team in the New Year, and becoming the ‘poster boy or girl’ – quite literally – for making Safety, Health, Environment and Quality messages stick!
To enter, drawings can be left on Darrell Johnson’s desk, or scanned and sent directly via email – for those working away from the office. Please make sure you include the name of entrant, age, and connection to Smith Brothers – so we can pick a winning design!
To sweeten the deal, our top three designs will receive a selection box – with the winning entry used as per the above! Good luck!
